Nutrition Information - Balance, Mind, Body and Soul

Good nutrition is a vital component of a healthy lifestyle. nuCuisine is aware of the importance of nutritionally balanced meals in the lives of busy college students. A variety of healthful menu selections are available daily, including lower fat, vegetarian, vegan, carb-friendly menu items and traditional menu items.

We are excited to present a more holistic approach to nutrition through a program called Balance, Mind, Body and Soul (Balance). A main cornerstone of the Balance program is the availability of grab-and-go menu items that fit into one or more of four categories: well-balanced, vegetarian, vegan, and carb-friendly. Each food item will be labeled with an identifying symbol and nutrition information will be provided. Beginning Fall quarter, this program will be offered in three of our retail operations including Norris University Center, Crowe Café and Tech Express, and will eventually be rolled out to the resident dining facilities across campus.

nuCuisine doesn't endorse any one particular diet. Rather we recognize the diverse nutrition needs of our diners and offer a variety of foods that can be tailored to fit a variety of lifestyles. The following symbols identify foods that fit the profile of the Balance program. The nutrient values for each category are based on the recommendations and guidelines set forth by various reputable health organizations including American Heart Association, American Institute for Cancer Research, and Dietary Guidelines Consortium.

Well-balanced entrees - items contain approximately 30% or fewer calories from fats, and are low in cholesterol and saturated fat.

Vegan entrees - items are completely plant-based and are free of animal products.

Vegetarian entrees - items contain dairy and/or egg products.

Carb-friendly entrees - menu items provide 20 grams or less carbohydrates per serving.
