About nuCuisine

Innovation

Each week, almost 9,000 people walk into a nuCuisine facility on campus - all looking for a fresh, satisfying meal. How can we serve the diverse NU community? Quality ingredients and constant innovation!

Our chefs are constantly seeking diner feedback and juggling menu items to satisfy individual requests. The convenience store's at Foster-Walker and 1835 Hinman, supply grocery items, frozen meals, snacks, and Smart Market salads, sandwiches and wraps. The Paws `n Go C-Store located in the Norris Center offers a variety of toiletry items, bottled beverages, ICEE's, portable meals, a myraid of snacks and Smart Market food items as well. Another Foster-Walker innovation is the West Side Dining Hall, which features a string of made-to-order stations due to diners' requests.

Dining locations have also adapted to diners' requests and needs. Plaza Cafe, located in the Northwestern University Library, Crowe Cafe, located in Crowe Hall, and Tech Express, located in the Technological Institute, provide quick snacks for students and staff between classes. The newest location to the NU Evanston Campus, is Starbucks, which opened in January 2007. Starbucks, located in the Norris Center is a popular spot for students to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and fresh bakery items. Einstein Bros Bagels, located in the Pancoe Pavilion, offers fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, salads and more. Another retail location, Lisa's Cafe, is the perfect environment to enjoy conversation with friends over Seattle's Best espresso or soft drinks. Lisa's Cafe is located in Benjamin W. Slivka Hall. The newest locations at the Chicago campus are Pandini's and Jazzman's Café. Jazzman’s Café is a coffee shop plus a whole lot more! Fresh baked goods, specialty salads and sandwiches are just a few of the delicious items that Jazzman’s Café has to offer. The menu items offered at Pandini's are a combination of old world classics and new world fusion tastes.

Our Global Chef Program, developed to introduce authentic international cuisine, brings in one international chef per year to stay on campus for a few weeks, preparing meals and training dining staff. In November 2006, Chef Samarn of Sodexho Thailand made a visit to the Evanston campus. He prepared delicious Thai cuisine at the six resident dining halls and at the Norris Center for the students to enjoy!
