** Fitness Enhancement Physical Training is required for midshipmen failing to meet the standards of a semi-annual physical fitness test.
Your junior year in the Northwestern NROTC Unit will
commence with the first week of classes, typically starting the last week of
September. Some midshipmen participate
in Orientation Week as training staff, assigned to help with new midshipmen
orientation. Because there are no Naval
Science courses in the Fall, some midshipmen take the opportunity to study
abroad for a quarter. Junior midshipmen
take NS 210 Marine Navigation in the
winter quarter followed by NS 331 Naval Operations
in the spring quarter. Midshipmen
typically take a National Security Policy course in either their sophomore or
junior year. All midshipmen, regardless
of class year, attend the Naval Science Lab on Tuesday afternoons. The academic year is full of opportunities
to participate in NROTC events such as Drill Meets, the Military Ball,
Dining-in, and Spring Review. In your
third summer as a midshipman, you will participate in First Class Cruise.
Marine Option: Third year Marine Option Scholarship midshipmen have a very similar schedule to that pictured, with exceptions:
