Academic

In addition to pursuing a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University, you will be required to take additional courses to prepare yourself for leadership as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corps. To maintain scholarship benefits, you must achieve at least a 2.0 grade point average with no course failures. To help you achieve this, we provide professional tutors for certain subjects and carefully monitor your progress, providing personalized mentorship and advice. The following courses are required as part of the NROTC curriculum (depending on your scholarship option):

Navy Option Scholarships

Four-year Scholarship:
    A full year of Calculus
    A full year of Physics (Calculus-based)
    A full year of English
    One World Cultures course
    One U.S. Military History or National Security course
    NS 110 Introduction to the Organization and Culture of the Naval Services
    NS 120 Seapower and Maritime Affairs
    NS 345 Naval Engineering
    NS 210 Marine Navigation
    NS 331 Naval Operations
    NS 220 Naval Weapons Systems
    NS 230 Naval Leadership and Management
    NS 341 A Seminar on Wartime Leadership and Ethics
Two-year Scholarship
    Two-year Navy Option Scholarship midshipmen need to have completed one year of Calculus prior to receiving the scholarship.
    Same course requirements as a four-year scholarship midshipman

College Program

Four-year College Program
    College Programmers are required to take the same courses as the Navy Scholarship midshipmen except they have the option of taking a full year of College Algebra or higher level math instead of Calculus and a full year of any Physical Science instead of Physics.
GunnyTwo-year College Program
    Two-year College Program midshipmen are required to have completed two semesters of College Algebra or higher level math courses before entering the program.
    Same course requirements as a 4 year College Programmer.
