Sensing & Making Sense: The Key to Insight & Design in Complex Systems
“Make no small plans. They do not hold the power to excite men’s souls.”
--Daniel Burnham, Chief Designer of the Chicago Lake Front

While many tools of complexity rely on highly evolved computational technologies, the next CANet Member Innovation Lab will use the most complex tool known to us all, the human mind. With the help of Professor Lisa Fortini-Campbell of Kellogg School of Management’s Management & Strategy Department, we will focus on the roles and methods of successfully “reading” the players and motivations involved in complex business ecologies, a vital first and often missed step to designing any successful innovation. We will also begin building on these concepts in developing tools for the initial phases of design experiments.
