A New Beginning for the Speech Division
 This year will be the first year of a major restructuring to the Speech Division of the National High School Institute. We have begun to refocus on an innovative idea for the Institute by utilizing a four week model that is virtually unheard of in extemporaneous speaking programs around the country. We are also capitalizing on a new comprehensive immersion approach to Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas debate that will facilitate any student’s development into a remarkable speaker and a championship debater.

The ultimate change to the Speech Division will be in the approach not as a traditional “camp”, but rather as an “Institute” that is dedicated to upholding the tradition of remarkable instruction found at Northwestern University. By altering this model we are able to fully utilize our partnership with the Northwestern University Policy Debate Team, a team regarded as the best in the history of the activity. This development will allow students to be taught by the incredible faculty specialists designated to the Speech Division departments as well as the immensely talented and experienced experts in argumentation traditionally devoted to the Policy Debate team.

This combination offers students in LD, PF, and Extemporaneous Speaking an opportunity that is unique to only the National High School Institute. Students will spend the primary bulk of their time learning from an astounding Speech Division faculty of event specialists in LD, PF, and Extemporaneous Speaking to gain the knowledge only found by working with those who have achieved championship level success. However, they will also spend considerable time working with Northwestern University faculty members with extensive experience teaching argumentation, communication, and public address. This new found focus as an Institute means that students will leave the Speech Division of the National High School Institute as both brilliant championship competitors and persuasive speakers capable of inspiring change in the world around them.
