LIKELY FACULTY

Kevin Welch, a Coca Cola Refreshing filmmaker for his short film “The Negative Consequence”, writes and directs films while teaching media production at both NHSI at Northwestern University and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas.  His latest film “The Happy Couple” will begin the festival circuit later this year when it wraps up its postproduction. An alum of Northwestern’s Graduate film program, Kevin received the Barbara and Garry Marshall Award for Media Arts for his work there.  Currently he is finishing up his feature-length screenplay “The Pilot”, which follows three strangers as they navigate the tricky waters of identity and love on the streets of Berlin.  He is also prepping a documentary about a staged “reality” film from the silent era which depicted a Teddy Roosevelt look-a-like shooting a lion on safari that was passed off as actual footage by wily film pioneer William Selig.  His work often deals with issues of identity and the deceptive powers of perception upon reality.  Kevin’s contributions as a director, writer, producer and production designer have been seen at festivals across the country.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and earned his MFA in Radio/Television/Film from Northwestern University.

James B. Joyce currently teaches at Montana State University’s Media & Theatre Arts program, focusing on production and post-production techniques. In the summers he returns to Northwestern University, where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Radio/TV/Film, as the Co-Director to the National High School Institute’s Film & Video program. In addition to his teaching endeavors, he continues working in the free-lance film industry on commercials and feature films, ranging from ads Ford Motor Corp to Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horrors. His short film, Lemonade: A Sour Love Story, is in post-production.
