EVANSTON, Ill. --- Students gathered last night (Oct. 3) at Northwestern University’s Communications Residential College to watch and critique the election season's first presidential debate. At the debate's conclusion, David Zarefsky -- one of the nation’s preeminent experts on presidential rhetoric and debate -- led a lively discussion on the results.

Zarefsky, former dean of the School of Communication, is teaching “Tracking the Presidential Election: Politics, Rhetoric and Media” this fall at the residential college.
