EVANSTON, Ill. --- The realistic and visionary works and personal imagery of the Northwestern University Class of 2012 art theory and practice majors will be showcased during “Liminal End,” the Senior Art Show at the Dittmar Memorial Gallery.

“Liminal End” runs through June 7. The Dittmar Gallery is located on the first floor of Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive, Evanston campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Featuring the installations of five Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate art majors, the annual show reflects the students’ varied approaches to contemporary art-making and marks the culmination of their undergraduate studies at the University.

The participating artists are seniors Jenna Fugate, Joanne Kim, Morgan Krehbiel, Meagan Lee and Angela Wang.

• Fugate creates tension between depth and flatness in her realistic paintings. While the objects that appear in her works are layered, the images as a whole sink into the surface of the canvas.

• Kim works in a variety of mediums, selecting the most appropriate for each project. Her creative exploration is rooted in engaging the viewer to think twice about the way one communicates and understands society.

• Krehbiel addresses the construction and fragmentation of space in her work, whether working with paint on canvas or pixels on screen.

• Lee strives to do as much as possible with as little as possible. Her work begins with tight parameters that she subsequently stretches, contorts and reconfigures through redundancy, distraction and imperfections of the hand.

• Wang’s surreal work hinges upon her dreams. She documents each night’s ventures in a dream journal, which becomes the fodder for her visual production.

The Dittmar Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
