Stuelpnagel Named McCormick Lecturer


Professor’s research focuses on media ownership and effect on news coverage

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Larry Stuelpnagel, assistant professor of journalism in the Medill School of Journalism and distinguished senior lecturer of political science in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been named the Charles Deering McCormick University Distinguished Lecturer.

Stuelpnagel’s research focuses on media ownership and how that affects news coverage and diversity in the news industry. As a lecturer of political science, he teaches courses on politics and the press and how media impact the political process. He is the faculty adviser to the Northwestern News Network (NNN), a newscast produced by students. Under his leadership, NNN shows have won two national and three Chicago/Midwest student Emmy awards and recently added its first all-Spanish language newscast.

Stuelpnagel joined the Northwestern faculty in 1995.
