Molitch Named Sherwin Professor
Professor opened clinic in Bolivia
September 7, 2011 | by Jasmine RangelEVANSTON, Ill. ---Mark E. Molitch, M.D., professor of medicine in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been named the Martha Leland Sherwin Professor.
With his wife, Dr. Susan Hou, Molitch founded a clinic in Bolivia, the Centro Medico Humberto Parra, to provide care to indigenous people. Since 2004, as part of student rotations, Northwestern sends two medical students a month to work at the clinic. Molitch is also a leading authority in clinical practice, leading the development and authorship of clinical practice guidelines.
Molitch’s research focuses on pituitary tumors and diabetic complications. He is a member of the Endocrine Society, in which he recently served on the council, the American Diabetes Association and the American College of Physicians. He is the President-Elect of The Pituitary Society. He also has served on the editorial boards of many journals.
Molitch joined the Northwestern faculty in 1984.
