EVANSTON, Ill. --- Renee Engeln-Maddox, senior lecturer of psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been named the Charles Deering McCormick University Distinguished Lecturer.

Engeln-Maddox has been awarded many teaching honors, including the Weinberg College Alumni Teaching Award, Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year Award from Northwestern’s Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honor Society and placement on the Associated Student Government’s Faculty Honor Roll for five straight years.

Her research focuses on exploring the link between images of women in the media and women’s perceptions about their own bodies. She has also been collaborating on a study measuring the degree to which students participating in studies through psychology department pools are motivated to complete surveys accurately and how often they follow instructions during psychological research.

She joined Northwestern as a lecturer in 2006.
