Bass Named Kettering Professor of Medicine
Feinberg professor is chief of endocrinology
March 21, 2011EVANSTON, Ill. --- Dr. Joseph T. Bass, M.D., the recently appointed chief of the division of endocrinology, metabolism and molecular medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, has been named the Kettering Professor of Medicine.
His research focuses on the molecular relationship between circadian rhythms and metabolism in the development of diabetes and obesity. Bass, an experienced lecturer in both the medical school and the neurobiology and physiology department in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, works with Northwestern’s Center for Genetic Medicine and Interdepartmental Neuroscience Ph.D. Program.
Bass is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. He joined the Northwestern faculty in 1999. Bass was the division director of endocrinology and metabolism for Evanston Northwestern Healthcare until 2009.
