Wilkinson Honored by American Mathematical Society


Math researcher receives 2011 Ruth Lyttle Satter Prize

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Amie Wilkinson, professor of mathematics, received the 2011 Ruth Lyttle Satter Prize from the American Mathematical Society.

The award, presented every two years, recognizes a woman for outstanding contribution to mathematics research. Wilkinson is honored for contribution to the field of ergodic theory of partially hyperbolic dynamical systems. 

Wilkinson, who joined the Northwestern faculty in 1996, has received numerous grants from the National Science Foundation, is widely published in top publications of the mathematics field and has spoken at more than 30 conferences.

Wilkinson was presented the award on Jan. 7 in New Orleans.
