Thomson Named Dow Chemical Company Professor


Chemist recently received the 2010 Amgen Young Investigator Award

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Regan Thomson, assistant professor of chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, has been named the Dow Chemical Company Research Professor.

Thomson’s research focuses on the development of new reaction design and the synthesis of complex biologically active molecules. The National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health and the American Chemical Society support his research.

Thomson received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2009 and the 2010 Amgen Young Investigator Award. He is affiliated with several Northwestern centers including the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Center for Molecular Innovation and Drug Discovery and the Chemistry of Life Processes Institute.
