Critically acclaimed contemporary dance company will present “Sharks Before Drowning”

EVANSTON, Ill. --- The School of Communication’s dance program will host four presentations of “Sharks Before Drowning,” a new choreographic work performed by guest ensemble Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak Dance, an innovative Chicago-based contemporary dance company.

The dance concert is open to the public and will take place on the Evanston campus. A description of the event and ticket information follows.

Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak, a critically acclaimed contemporary dance company based in Chicago, will present a new ensemble work titled “Sharks Before Drowning.” Shanahan, a Northwestern dance faculty member, is the artistic director of Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak, which she founded in 1994. “Sharks Before Drowning” is the latest installment in Shanahan’s “Stamina of Curiosity” series, a multi-year movement project. Shanahan will perform the new piece with company dancers Kristina Fluty, Ben Law and Jessie Marasa. Seating is limited; advance ticket purchases are recommended. Single-tickets are $20 for the general public; $15 for Northwestern faculty and staff; and $10 for full-time students with IDs. To order advance tickets online, visit www.madshak.com.
