Free Shredding Day
Bring sensitive University documents for shredding on Chicago and Evanston campuses
August 3, 2010EVANSTON, Ill. --- It's time to deal with that growing pile of confidential papers that you've been storing in your bottom drawer.
Northwestern's University Services is sponsoring a free summer shredding day Tuesday, Aug. 17 on the Evanston campus and Thursday, Aug. 19 on the Chicago campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (see locations below). ShredX, Northwestern's preferred vendor for document destruction, will have a mobile shredding truck on both campuses.
"We all should try to stay on top of disposing sensitive materials," said Jessica Jacobs, marketing and communications manager at University Services. "And since shredding services typically come with a fee, this is a convenient opportunity for all University departments."
Materials must be from a Northwestern department or school, and no more than five banker boxes per person. All shredded documents will be recycled.
"We hope the event will remind people to take care of those confidential documents collecting in drawers and file cabinets," added Jacobs.
