Lurain Named Stenn Professor in Gynecologic Oncology


Feinberg professor is director of the John I. Brewer Trophoblastic Disease Center

EVANSTON, Ill. --- John Robert Lurain III, M.D., professor of gynecology and cancer research at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, has been named the Marcia Stenn Professor in Gynecologic Oncology.

Lurain currently is the director of the John I. Brewer Trophoblastic Disease Center and the program director for the Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, the only program of its kind in the state of Illinois. He was the chief of the division of Gynecologic Oncology from 1985 to 2004.

He is a five-time member of Chicago Magazine's Best Doctors list and on top doctors lists in several other publications. Lurain has published nearly 200 journal articles and has presented more than 300 times around the world. He has also received many educational awards for his efforts. Lurain joined the Northwestern faculty in 1979.
