Nikos Hardavellas Named June and Donald Brewer Junior Professor


The McCormick professor joined the Northwestern faculty in September

 EVANSTON, Ill. --- Nikos Hardavellas, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern, has been named the June and Donald Brewer Junior Professor.

Hardavellas researches computer architecture, particularly multicore and multiprocessor systems, memory hierarchies and runtime environments for parallel computer systems.

He received an Award for Contributions to the Alpha Microprocessor from the Compaq Computer Corporation in 2000 and an Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Micro Top Pick from Computer Architecture Conferences to appear in the IEEE Micro Special Issue in 2010. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the IEEE.

Hardavellas received a doctorate in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University in July 2009 and then joined the Northwestern faculty in September.
