China's Reaction To Tire Tariff Remains Unclear

EVANSTON, Ill. --- It remains unclear how Beijing will respond to the recent implementation of a temporary tariff on most tires being imported into the United States from China. The action comes as a response to what U.S. trade officials say is a surge in Chinese tire exports that has adversely impacted the American tire industry. Victor Shih, assistant professor of political science at Northwestern University, discusses the possible implications of the tire tariff and the general reationship between the United States and China.
