Victor Goines Honors Benny Goodman at Millennium Park

Director of Jazz Studies debuted his new composition to honor 100th anniversary of Goodman's birth.

Clarinetist Victor Goines, director of jazz studies and professor of music at Northwestern's Bienen School of Music, performed with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble the world premiere of Goines' composition "Benny: Then, Now and Forever." Commissioned by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the five-movement piece honors Benny Goodman and his influence on Goines. It was a highlight of the Sept. 3 concert held in Chicago's Millennium Park marking the 100th anniversary of Goodman's birth.
