EVANSTON, Ill. --- Susan Abrams has been appointed Director of Program Review and Special Projects at Northwestern University and will report to the Vice President of Administration and Planning.

Program review, which began at Northwestern in 1985, systematically assesses all academic and administrative units at the University. The review looks at each unit’s program quality and effectiveness, stimulates program planning and improvement, and encourages the unit’s development in strategic directions that reflect the University’s priorities. The primary goal is the constructive improvement of all aspects of the University.

Abrams’ broad background includes investment banking at Goldman Sachs, management consulting at McKinsey & Company, running business and planning at Chicago Children’s Museum, and founding and running a residential development company, JCA Properties. Additionally, she is the author of “The New Success Rules for Women: 10 Surefire Strategies for Reaching Your Career Goals” (Random House, 2000), has lectured extensively on its topics to corporate clients, women’s business groups, students and alumni, and has served as a Visiting Scholar at Kellogg, from which she graduated in 1990.

Abrams serves on the Board of Advisors for Leadership Illinois and for Kellogg’s Women’s Business Association. She retired in December after nine years on Chicago Children’s Museum’s Board of Directors.
