Facchetti Receives Honor from Italian Chemical Society

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Antonio Facchetti, adjunct associate professor of chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, has received the 2009 Research Prize from the Italian Chemical Society for his contributions to the field of mechanisms and theoretical aspects of organic chemistry.

The prize will be delivered next month during the XXIII National Meeting of the Italian Chemistry Society in Sorrento, Italy.

Facchetti received a doctorate in chemical sciences from the State University of Milano and conducted postdoctoral research in organic chemistry at Northwestern. He joined the Northwestern faculty in 2000 as visiting assistant professor in the Materials Research Center and has been a faculty member in the department of chemistry since 2002. Facchetti has published more than 150 articles, and his most recent work can be found in the journals Nature, Science, Advanced Materials and Chemistry of Materials. He currently holds 21 patents.
