EVANSTON, Ill. --- The 13th annual Winter Chamber Music Festival will conclude with a concert featuring the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with guest sitarist Anoushka Shankar.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, 50 Arts Circle Drive, on Northwestern University's Evanston campus. The festival is presented by the University's Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music.

Their program will feature Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Zwischenakt Musik from "Thamos;" Ravi Shankar's Concerto for Sitar and Orchestra; Zoltán Kodály's "Summer Evening;" and Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 99 in E-flat Major.

Members of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra will meet sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar in New York City on Jan. 21. Working together during the next 12 days, they will give life to the world premiere of her father Ravi Shankar's newest composition, Concerto No. 3 for Sitar and Orchestra.

Filmmakers Chris and Alex Browne will provide additional insight into the Orpheus' collaboration with Anoushka Shankar through their 12-part mini-documentary series "Raga Saga," and daily "webisodes" that will give viewers exclusive access to the skill, the artistry and the inherent drama that are part of the unique Orpheus rehearsal process from first-read to final performance of this tour at New York's Carnegie Hall.

The series will begin Wednesday, Jan. 21, with additional "webisodes" posted daily until Sunday, Feb. 1. Each three-to-five-minute "webisode," recorded by filmmakers Chris and Alex Browne, will cover the process of commissioning, rehearsing and performing Ravi Shankar's Concerto No. 3 for Sitar and Orchestra. Registration is required to access the episodes, but they are available at no cost.

The Jan. 25 Orpheus Chamber Orchestra performance at Northwestern University's Pick-Staiger Concert Hall is the first of the four national concerts featuring sitarist Anoushka Shankar. Tickets are $30 for the general public; $26 for senior citizens and Northwestern faculty and staff; and $14 for full-time students with valid IDs.
