Performing Artist William Pope.L Will Give Lecture Nov. 21

EVANSTON, Ill. ---Visual and performance/theatre artist and educator William Pope.L will present a combined lecture and performance Nov. 21 at Northwestern University.

Pope.L is an artist and academic whose work often addresses social issues. His multi-disciplinary work, first created in the 1970's, has been exhibited internationally. He is a featured artist in "Intersections" edited by Marci Nelligan and Nicole Mauro, and "How to See a Work of Art in Total Darkness" by Darby English.

Pope.L's lecture will be held Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in Room 107 of Swift Hall, 2029 Sheridan Road. The presentation is free and open to the public.

William Pope.L is the Fall 2008 Visiting Jean Gimble Lane Humanities Professor at the Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities. His appearance is sponsored by the institute and the department of art theory and practice.
