Bienen Honored by Niagara Foundation


President Henry Bienen has received a 2008 Niagara Peace & Dialogue Award from the Niagara Foundation.

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University President Henry S. Bienen has received a 2008 Niagara Peace & Dialogue Award from the Niagara Foundation.

He received the Education Award along with Barbara Eason-Watkins, chief educational officer of Chicago Public Schools.

The Niagara awards recognize outstanding achievements of those who have distinguished themselves in their profession, time, energy, expertise and service to humanity. Awards are based on factors such as community service, education, community educational involvement, professional and community honors, business and professional leadership, media and educational honors.

The Chicago-based foundation is a subsidiary of Niagara Educational Services Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to innovation and revitalization in education.
