EVANSTON, Ill. --- Due to illness, pianist Richard Goode's 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 vocal master class at Lutkin Hall and related live webcast -- as well as his 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10 piano master class and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10 lecture-demonstration at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall -- have all been canceled.

Instead, Goode will visit Northwestern University's Evanston campus in 2009 on April 20, 21 and 22, when he will present two master classes and a full recital that will be open to the public.

These events will conclude Goode's residency at the school as the inaugural winner of the Jean Gimbel Lane Prize in Piano Performance.

In 2005, the Northwestern University School of Music established the biennial Jean Gimbel Lane Prize in Piano Performance to honor pianists who have achieved the highest levels of national and international recognition. Winners receive a $50,000 cash award and spend two to three non-consecutive weeks in residence at the School of Music, working with students and faculty. The prize is made possible by a generous gift from Jean Gimbel Lane and the Honorable Laurence W. Lane, Jr.

For more information about Goode's cancelled Spring 2008 programs or his newly scheduled Spring 2009 residency, call the Pick-Staiger Box Office at (847) 467-4000 or visit the Pick-Staiger Web site at http://www.pickstaiger.org.
