On April 9, 2008, Matthew K. Rose, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway was on the Northwestern University campus to deliver the 27th Annual William A. Patterson Transportation Lecture. In his remarks, entitled "America's Transportation Challenge," Rose discussed the current issues facing the railroad industry, his work at BNSF and the implications of a recently released report by the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission.
