Northwestern's 75th Alumni Awards presentation last month celebrated 21 individuals for their achievements, service to society and dedication to their alma mater.
Alumni Medal
Raymond Farley received the Alumni Medal, Northwestern's mark of highest distinction. Farley graduated in 1951 from the Evanston Business School before going on to be president and CEO of SC Johnson. Now retired, Farley was recognized for his work ethic and dedication to Northwestern as reflected in numerous programs and facilities, including being a life trustee and serving on the leadership committee of Campaign Northwestern.
Alumni Merit Awards
Thirteen individuals received Alumni Merit awards for high achievements in a profession or field of endeavor. They are: Susan Schmidt Bies, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences (1968, 1972); Mark Booth, Kellogg Graduate School of Management (1997); John Conroy, Jr., School of Law (1979); Linda Kinsel Foley, Medill School of Journalism (1977); Susan Levine Fuhrman, School of Education and Social Policy (1965, 1966); Renetta Walker McCann, School of Communication (1978); Marlena Miglin, School of Continuing Studies (1991); Harold Louis Paz, Feinberg School of Medicine (1985, 1986); Steven Preston, Weinberg (1982); Howard Reich, School of Music (1977); Perry Tuneberg, Dental School (1982); Thomas Tyrrell, McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science (1967); and Adam Stein Weinberg, Graduate School (1991, 1994).
Service to Society Award
Lawrence Marshall received the Service to Society award for the exceptional advancement of causes or ideas that improve society. Marshall, a 1985 graduate of the law school, is a former Northwestern law professor and current member of the Stanford law faculty.
Alumni Service Awards
Six individuals received Alumni Service awards for outstanding service to the University. They are: Jennifer Nicole Bender, Communication (2001); Edith Howard Bostic, Education (1974); Christine Brennan, Medill (1980, 1981); Carey Graeber, Communication (1975); Suzan Laural Rayner, Feinberg (1985, 1989); and Christine Olson Robb, Weinberg (1966).
