Pamela L. Pirtle, associate director of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has joined Northwestern as director of equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and disability services.
Since taking the post last August, she has been reviewing existing policies and procedures and building partnerships across the University for training and outreach programs. In addition, Pirtle is focusing on the University's diversity progress reports.
Pirtle previously served as affirmative action coordinator at Illinois State University at Normal. She was a Human Rights Investigator at the Arlington County, Virginia, Human Rights Commission, and she worked as a consultant in a Virginia Equal Employment Opportunity consulting firm.
She also served as an administrator at the Illinois Department of Human Rights in Chicago during a 15-year career in equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
