Saturday MBA Gives Kellogg Expanded Reach

CHICAGO -- For nearly a century, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University has offered Chicago-area working professionals the opportunity to pursue an MBA degree through its part-time Evening MBA Program.
The Kellogg School has announced a new Saturday MBA Program to be held on its downtown Chicago campus. The new program is a part-time MBA program designed for professionals located regionally or nationally who desire the renowned Kellogg academic experience, but have unique career demands that have rendered the traditional evening program inaccessible.
Beginning in June 2007, Kellogg will offer the Saturday MBA Program in which students take a pre-designed set of courses to complete the MBA degree in 10 quarters or 2.5 years. The course structure allows Saturday students to complete their MBA with majors in Finance, Management & Strategy and Marketing. Students will also have the option to take additional courses for majors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Management & Organizations.
“The Saturday MBA Program is very similar to the Evening MBA Program in that the faculty, the student profile, admissions and degree requirements, and networking opportunities are the same,” said Vennie A. Lyons, associate dean and director of the Kellogg School's Part-time MBA Programs. “We've identified a gap in the marketplace that we had not served before. This new program allows us to reach out to an entirely underserved group of people, both in the Chicago region and throughout the country.”
The Saturday MBA Program will include the experiential learning and leadership options for which the Kellogg School is known, including the Global Initiatives in Management (GIM) course. GIM immerses students in global business during 10 weeks of classroom instruction, followed by an intensive two-week field research trip to the chosen country or countries to complete international research projects. Students also will participate in leadership programs such as Conceptual Issues for the Manager (CIM), Symposium on Managerial Leadership, Colloquium on Thought Leadership, the Professional Development Series and numerous other networking events as well.
