Spring 2006 Work/Life Workshops Announced

Health and wellness, fitness and financial planning are the prime topics of the spring 2006 Work/Life educational workshop series that continues on both campuses through June 27.

A new workshop, “Simple Ways to Manage Your Health and Health Costs,” is intended to help individuals manage their health care needs by utilizing available resources and online tools to promote a healthier lifestyle and manage cost effectiveness of health plan benefits. The workshop will be held on the Evanston campus from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at Norris University Center's Ohio State Room, and in Chicago from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Wieboldt Hall, Room 105.

Other spring noontime courses will focus on college tuition planning, mortgages, Medicare, Social Security and retirement planning. One-on-one, 45-minute on-campus counseling sessions will be available by appointment. Representatives from Fidelity Investments and TIAA-CREF are available to meet with faculty and staff to answer specific questions, assist with asset allocation strategies and help set personal financial goals. Individuals interested in scheduling an appointment with a Fidelity Investments representative should call the Fidelity Investments Appointment Desk at (800) 642-7131 or the TIAA-CREF Appointment Desk at (800) 842-2005, ext. 5633 or register online at <www.tiaa-cref.org/moc>.

A complete description and listing of dates, times, course titles and room locations is available in the Spring 2006 Financial Planning Workshops brochure that has been sent to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff. The same information is available on the Benefits Division Web site at <http://www.northwestern.edu/hr/benefits/news/financialplanning.html>.

Since seminars with less than 20 reservations may be cancelled, it is important to attend a workshop if you made a reservation. The Benefits Division should be notified of any personal cancellations. Workshop attendees may bring a bag lunch.

To register for the Human Resources Benefits courses online, go to <https://aquavite.northwestern.edu/wreg/show_courses.cgi> or complete the workshop registration form at the back of the booklet.
