Recycle Your Phone Books

NU faculty/staff/student directories are being distributed over the next couple weeks. Outdated Northwestern and other telephone books may be placed in office paper recycling bins through January.

After Jan. 31, phone books will not be accepted with office paper.

A total of 500,000 tons of paper are used annually to provide telephone directories to the public. NU Recycling urges that outdated directories be recycled to save valuable resources and avoid wasting limited landfill space.

NU Recycling's efforts have been acknowledged with awards from the Office of the Governor of Illinois, the Illinois Recycling Association and the American Forest and Paper Association.

On the Evanston campus, approximately 40 tons of office paper are collected every month. In Chicago, more than seven tons of office paper are collected each month. For more information, contact NU Recycling at 7-1374 or nurecycle@northwestern.edu.
