Newsweek, Northwestern Program to Examine 9/11 Report

Northwestern University and Newsweek magazine will present a panel discussion on The 9/11 Commission Report Wednesday (Sept. 22) on the University’s Chicago campus.

The program — Perspectives on National Security: The 9/11 Commission Report and Its Impact on The Nation — will be held in the Ray Conley Lounge (5th floor) at the Kellogg School of Management, Wieboldt Hall, 340 E. Superior St., Chicago.

The program is one of the magazine’s regular visits to campuses to discuss issues that affect the Presidential election.

Daniel Klaidman, Washington Bureau chief, Newsweek, will serve as moderator for the panel. Panel members will be former Illinois Gov. James R. Thompson, a member of the 9/11 Commission; Gregory Treverton, senior policy analyst (Intelligence/U.S. Foreign Relations), Rand Corporation; Alexander Weiss, director, Center for Public Safety, Northwestern University; and Michael Isikoff, investigative correspondent, Newsweek.

A reception at 5 p.m. will be followed by the panel discussion at 6:15 p.m.

The event is open to Northwestern faculty, staff and students. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
