Northwestern Begins 'Important Chapter' in Qatar
On March 23, 2009, officials from Northwestern University and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Research, and Community Development formally marked the opening of Northwestern's campus in Doha. A contingent of students, faculty members, administrators, trustees, alumni and staff traveled from the Evanston campus to Doha for an official ceremony and three days' worth of sightseeing.

Postcards from Doha: Touring Qatar's Capital City
Approximately 80 members of the Northwestern community trekked to Doha, Qatar for the opening ceremonies of the Northwestern University in Qatar campus. Along the way, they toured Doha's diverse sites and landmarks including visited the Fanar Islamic Center, the Museum of Islamic Art, Al Jazeera headquarters and the Souk Waqif marketplace. They also enjoyed a scenic bay cruise on the Gulf.
