MS students are required to take Fundamentals of Neuroscience (NUIN 401-1, 1 credit) during fall quarter and Advanced Neurobiology and Physiology (NEUROBIO 402, 2 credits) during winter quarter. An elective is chosen by students for fall and spring quarters to round out their course requirement.

Fall Quarter Core Courses:

NUIN 401-1 Fundamentals of Neuroscience (1 credit)
This lecture-style course introduces students to a wide array of topics in neuroscience. The course runs for three quarters, with two general topics covered each quarter. MS students are required to take the first course during fall quarter. Topics include: Cell and Molecular Biology, Development, Sensory Systems, Motor Systems, Regulatory Systems, and Cognition and Behavior. Students are graded each quarter on a midterm and final exam. Required of all first year NUIN graduate students.

Winter Quarter Core Courses:
NEUROBIO-402 Advanced Neurobiology and Physiology (2 credits)
This new course is designed to expose students to cutting-edge research in neurobiology and physiology, and emphasize reading and critical discussion of primary literature.
