Teresa K. Woodruff, Ph.D. led a recent laboratory experience for 16 students from the Young Women's Leadership Charter School. The girls learned about ovarian physiology and biology in Dr. Woodruff's lab on the Evanston campus. Northwestern's Center for Reproductive Science and the Institute of Women's Health Research hosted the girls on three successive Saturdays to give them a mentoring experience from Lonnie Shea, Ph.D., Kelly Mayo, Ph.D., Erv Goldberg, Ph.D, Carole LaBonne, Ph.D., lab scholars and current undergraduates as well as hands-on laboratory instruction. The charter school brings together young women with a wide range of cultural and economic backgrounds from more than 30 different Chicago communities.
