We stand at the threshold of individualized medicine, where each patient’s care can be tailored to achieve the best outcomes. As part of this endeavor, understanding how the unique biological changes that occur throughout a woman’s lifetime impact her health and the presentation of disease is a vital step towards providing the very best medical care to improve women’s lives.

The Institute for Women’s Health Research was established to lead initiatives in women’s health that are sex- (biological) and gender (sociological)-sensitive. The Institute’s initiatives support the work of a multidisciplinary group of basic scientists, clinical investigators, clinicians-in-training and practicing physicians whose research focuses on the underlying biology and mechanisms of disease in women. Their work will uncover new ways to confirm health, diagnose disease, treat the causes and effects of illness and diminish human suffering experienced by women around the globe.
