Services
Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment and a robust set of services to support the Northwestern University community.
Advising

Individual Advising:
MSA encourages students to contact MSA staff members for assistance while they navigate college life. Through individual appointments, our staff offers advising to students on issues including personal growth, cultural development, leadership, and academics.
Student Group Advising:
MSA's Directors and Assistant Director offer student group leadership and management advising for student leaders. The entire staff has an open-door policy, and students are encouraged to drop in during scheduled office hours during the academic year.
Consultations
MSA provides consultations for faculty, staff, departments, alumni, and individuals. Our consultations cover a wide range of topics that include diversity concerns, working to create a more inclusive environment, and social justice matters.
Presentations
MSA conducts presentations across the University and beyond to educate and spread awareness around diversity. MSA has presented for academic and administrative departments, residence halls, and student groups. In addition, MSA staff members have presented at local and national conferences, and frequently speak in the Chicagoland area.
Training
MSA provides large and small scale training opportunities for faculty, staff, and students around a variety of issues relating to diversity, social justice, and awareness.
Academic Assistance Referrals
We are happy to refer students to academic support/resources available at Northwestern to assist with achieving their academic goals.
MSA offers a limited amount of funding for students with demonstrated financial need to support academic tutoring. For further information about academic support and referrals, email msa@northwestern.edu.
Facilities
Northwestern community members are welcome to use MSA spaces for studying, group meetings and small programs. We also provide computer labs and tv lounges in the Black House and MCC. For security purposes the Black House and MCC doors are locked at 5:00 pm, however students may gain access to the buildings during after-hours by ringing the doorbell and a staff member will open the door for you. All MSA spaces are open during regular business hours from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and after-hours until midnight.
Computer Labs
Both the Black House and MCC have computer labs, a copy machine, and fax machine for student use. Our facilities are also wireless. Please note that MSA does not provide paper! Students must bring their own paper for printing and copying.
