Affinity Discussion Groups

students discussing events

Multicultural Student Affairs seeks to create community for less visible identities and experiences within the greater Northwestern community through community discussion groups. These groups explore and celebrate the intersectionality of their identities and experiences and how they contribute to society. All community groups are facilitated by Northwestern students.

Below is a list of all our community discussion groups:

  • StAG (Student Athlete and Greek Alliance)
  • Latinx (gender open Latino group)
  • Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC)

I Am Northwestern

student with northwestern facepaint

I Am Northwestern is an MSA program designed to teach students to express stories about their past (histories, families, struggles), present (state of being) and future (aspirations) as it relates to their individual identities. By working on producing these stories in small story circles, we will gain a greater appreciation for the lived experiences of our peers. I am Northwestern is the collective body of these individual stories that challenges and disrupts the assumptions about what a Northwestern student is and tells a fuller story of our Northwestern community.

MSA will launch two pilot groups in the fall of 2015.

Each group will meet for two hours over four consecutive weeks.

  • Group 1 will meet on Tuesdays [Oct 13, 20, 27, Nov 3]
  • Group 2 will meet on Wednesdays [Oct 28, Nov 4, 11, 18]
  • All meetings will take place from 6:00PM-8:00PM
  • Food will be provided at all session
