LGBT Resource Center

In 2004, the LGBT Resource Center was created after much benchmarking and advocacy by Campus Advisory Network members as well as others around the university. Two years later, a part-time coordinator was hired to manage the LGBT Resource Center. The center established itself as a resource for advocating for LGBTQ students from 2006-2011. Beginning in the latter years, campus community members began to advocate for the LGBT Resource Center to become a part of Multicultural Student Affairs. There was also growing interest in creating a full-time position for the center. In 2012, the LGBT Resource Center transitioned to the Multicultural Student Affairs umbrella. This move also paved the way for Northwestern University to welcome its first full-time director of the LGBT Resource Center.
