Northwestern at West Point

More than 1,000 Wildcat fans attended the Northwestern Alumni Association tailgate before the football game versus Army in West Point, N.Y., on Sept. 17. The three-day tour of West Point and the historic Hudson Valley included three optional excursions: a guided tour of Kykuit, the Hudson River–side home of four generations of the Rockefeller family; a cruise of the Hudson River on the MV Commander, the last operating vessel that served the U.S. Navy in World War I; and a guided tour of Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving. Attendees stayed at Tarrytown House Estate and Conference Center in Tarrytown, N.Y., a historic hotel featuring 19th-century mansions, only 25 miles from midtown Manhattan. An additional 600 fans held a “Sailgate” event, riding four boats from Chelsea Piers in New York City to West Point, where they held their own tailgate before taking their places among the estimated 9,700 fans in the Wildcat fan section at Michie Stadium. Army won the game, 21-14.
