Winter 2003 1940s William O. Lewis (WCAS43) of Harlan, Iowa, and his wife, Jacquelyn, live on a farm and spend their summers in Minnesota. Their granddaughter, Sarah Creighton (WCAS03), graduated from Northwestern in June. Howard S. Traisman (WCAS43, FSM46, GFSM47, 51) of Evanston has retired after 51 years of private pediatric practice. He continues to teach at the Feinberg School of Medicine and is involved in Northwestern alumni affairs. He and wife, Regina, have been married for more than 47 years and have three sons and four grandchildren. James W. Workman Jr. (WCAS46) of Culdesac, Idaho, is a Baha’i and serves as a homefront pioneer at the Nez Perce Indian Reservation. He and his wife, Pat, are building a 40-foot boat so that they can travel, teach and assist Baha’i communities in the Pacific islands. He was a Methodist minister for 35 years. Billy Madison (WCAS47) of Great Falls, Mont., retired owner of Johnson Madison Lumber, has played the accordion since childhood. He entertains at conventions, churches, hospitals, festivals and concerts. He also plays the organ, piano and clarinet. William H. Lundquist (CB48) of Abington, Pa., retired in June after 20 years as treasurer of the Abington school district. He also was a partner in a CPA firm. Joan Kay Oksas (WCAS48) of Oak Lawn, Ill., retired in 1993 after 20 years as a professor of library sciences at Chicago State University. She enjoys traveling and playing bridge. Burt M. Zollo (J48) of Wilmette, Ill., wrote his first novel, Prisoners (Academy Chicago Publishers, 2003), about a Jewish-American soldier guarding Nazi soldiers in a POW camp in rural France. It is based on his own experience. He and his wife enjoy traveling, collecting art and attending classes at Northwestern. John H. Brand (L49) of Austin, Texas, has published two books, Shaking the Foundation and Rebuilding the Foundation (Dandelion Books, 2003). After law school he served as a minister in the United Methodist Church for 19 years and then joined a group of industrial psychologists in Houston, Birkman & Associates, where he focused on organizational development. Louise Evans (WCAS49) of Los Angeles, a clinical psychologist, is included in the American Biographical Institute’s 2003 edition of 500 Leaders of Science. She was also honored by the International Biographical Centre in England in three publications: the first volume of Living Science, the first edition of 2,000 Eminent Scientists of Today and Who’s Who in the 21st Century. Paula Anne Fowler Franklin (WCAS49) of Baltimore earned a second bachelor of arts degree from Towson University in May. She is a consulting psychologist and memorial artist.
