1930s

Seymour F. Simon (WCAS35, L38, H87) of Chicago, retired Illinois Supreme Court Justice and partner at Piper Rudnick law firm, received the Chicago Bar Foundation and Chicago Bar Association's Justice John Paul Stevens Award in September 2004. The award celebrates Illinois attorneys who best exemplify Stevens' lifelong efforts to improve the justice system. Former Illinois Gov. George H. Ryan cited Simon's long battle against the death penalty as a key factor in his decision to commute the sentences of Illinois death row inmates in 2003.

Robert L. Goman (WCAS36) of Milwaukee, retired president of Acme Equipment Corp., and his wife, Helen, celebrated their 90th birthdays and 50th wedding anniversary in August 2004 at Alexian Village retirement community. In 1935 he was co-chair of the Waa-Mu Show.

Albert B. "Ollie" Adelman (C37) of Milwaukee, chair of the board of Adelman Travel, wrote All Things Are Possible (Wildcat Publications, 2004), the story of his life, success in business, leadership, family devotion and civic contributions. In 1998 the former Wildcat quarterback was inducted into the Northwestern Athletic Hall of Fame. He has also led the Northwestern Alumni Association organization in Wisconsin.
