Feinberg School of Medicine Rix! Rax! Rox! NU Medics Will be Docs! According to L.B. Arey’s Northwestern University Medical School 1859–1979 (NU Press, 1979), alumni “repeatedly and deafeningly” shouted these inspiring words in the early years at formal dinners held during the school’s Alumni Week. No word yet on whether current Feinberg School of Medicine alumni will be chanting the cheer when they celebrate the centennial of Alumni Week, now known as Alumni Weekend, on April 25 and 26. But the formal dinner (black-tie optional and this year at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago Hotel) is still a highlight of the event. Alumni are also marking the 135th anniversary of the first meeting of the Medical Alumni Association, which was founded in 1867 and first met the following year. In addition to the weekend’s traditional tours, lunches and class dinners, the Feinberg School hosts this year’s Continuing Medical Education program, Advanced Imaging and Minimally Invasive Intervention. The presentation will be moderated by Eric Russell, chair of the Department of Radiology, and will feature case studies presented by alumni, with responses by members of the faculty.
