May Morey Leonard (WCAS28) of Evanston has two great-grandsons, Charles A. Krepp II and John O'Malley.

George "Lefty" Mills (J28) of Des Moines received the Harlan/Petersen Award for Lifetime Achievement from the State Historical Society of Iowa. His career as a journalist and political commentator spans eight decades.

Davis Newton Lott (EB, Nav35) of Marina Del Rey, Calif., is a songwriter, advertising agency executive and publisher.

Lewis P. Shelton (EB36) of Springfield, Ill., has been retired for 28 years. He is married to Lucile.

B.J. Fieldhouse (M37) of Jenison, Mich., began his medical practice during the Great Depression. In 1942, he wrote on the role of chemotherapy in the treatment of acute hematogenous osteomyelitis.

1940s
Gordon Beaubien Sr. (WCAS40) of Venice, Fla., practiced law and was a bank president until he retired in 1984.

John H. Holmgren (WCAS40) of Alexandria, Va., enjoys visiting historical sites in Virginia and Maryland. His wife, Mary, who is an artist, exhibits at the Torpedo Factory, a converted munitions factory in Alexandria.

Eunice Swet Bartusch (J41) of Altamonte Springs, Fla., a widow with two married daughters and four grandchildren, is active with her college sorority alumnae and the League of Women Voters.

Donald P. Trompeter (EB47, Nav45) of Princeton, Ill., is a retired contractor with several Northwestern alumni in his family: his wife, Terry Scanlan (S46) Trompeter; a son, Denny (SESP78); a deceased brother, Ralph (EB50); a brother-in-law, Robert Scanlan (EB55); deceased cousin Jay (WCAS48); and cousin Lois Trompeter (J39).

James H. Winter (GMu47) of Fresno, Calif., is an honorary member of the International Horn Society. He has been editor of The Horn Call, served as president of the society's advisory council and played first horn for 30 years in the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra until retirement in 1987. He is the first director emeritus of the orchestra.

Alfred Rowe Edyvean (GS48, 52) of Avon, Ind., founded the Edyvean Repertory Theatre in 1967 at Indianapolis' Christian Theological Seminary, which later moved to the University of Indianapolis.

Albert C. Allen (J49) of Louisville, Ky., a retired editor of the (Louisville) Courier-Journal and the Louisville Times, received the 1999 Thoroughbred Award from the Kentucky Association for Gerontology "for outstanding advocacy for the elderly in Kentucky" in "Prime Time," his weekly column for seniors in the Courier-Journal.

Albert M. Craig (WCAS49) of Belmont, Mass., retired in 1999 from Harvard University as Harvard-Yenching Professor of History. Married with two children and two grandchildren, he plans to write and travel.

Virginia A. Deter (GSESP49) of Asheville, N.C., retired in 1999 after serving as a Presbyterian missionary in Kanazawa, Japan. In 1993, she received a decoration from the emperor of Japan, and in 1994, Wheaton College awarded her alumnus of the year for distinguished service to society.

1950s
Robert E. Fulop (WCAS50) of Shawnee, Kan., retired last June from the Central Baptist Theological Seminary, where he had been professor of church history and missiology for 26 years. Previously, he served as a missionary teacher in Kanto Gakuin University College of Theology in Yokohama, Japan, for 15 years.

Helene R. Hill (SESP50) of Asheville, N.C., is a peace advocate who has traveled to Nicaragua and Cuba to speak about the United Nations, children's and women's issues, and poverty. She is co-chair of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, sells UNICEF cards and enjoys living in the Blue Ridge mountains.

Harry Schaudt (J, GJ50) of Villa Park, Ill., retired in 1991 as an editor for the Chicago Sun-Times. He now acts in community, college and professional theater. He starred in the role of Luka in Gorky's The Lower Depths. His wife is Jean Lindsay (J50) Schaudt.

Kenneth H. Bradt (G51) of Bradenton, Fla., received the 1999 Rohrer, Hibler and Replogle International Award for outstanding service to organizations from the American Psychological Association's Division of Consulting Psychology.

James M. Halbe (J51, GJ55) of Gainesville, Fla., retired in 1999 after 45 years in the newspaper business. He is writing a book about German U-boats off Florida's east coast during World War II.

Slater E. Newman (G51) of Raleigh, N.C., professor of psychology at North Carolina State University, has been recognized for his professional contributions with a scholarship endowment in his name.

Jeanette Sarkisian Wagner (S51) of New York City, vice chair of the Estée Lauder Cos., received an Alumni Achievement Award from Harvard Business School.

James Lee Ketelsen (EB52) of Houston received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the University of Houston. Until his retirement in 1992, he was chief executive officer and chair of Tenneco.

Robert C. Strodel (EB52) of Peoria, Ill., has been re-elected president of the Civil Justice Foundation, a nonprofit corporation that promotes consumer safety programs.

Camille Jarzembski Cook (WCAS54) of Western Springs, Ill., is president of Friends of Fiber Art, an advocacy organization for fiber artists.

Audrey Gallery (WCAS54) of Chicago received the Jane Cooke Runyon Award for outstanding service from Bradford College in Bradford, Mass. She retired from IBM in 1990 after 36 years. She now oversees the restoration of a World War II U-boat at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.

Van Ness Hansen (D54) of Reno, Nev., retired from dental practice in 1995 after 41 years. He helped establish and coordinate dental services in India, China and many other Asian countries.

Eric Morris (S54) of Los Angeles, an actor in more than 100 films and 100 equity plays, has taught acting for 38 years.

John Bell (J55) of Chicago is a retired public relations consultant with a second career as a freelance business writer for corporations and national general business and trade magazines.

Alan Bjorklund (EB55) of Palm Desert, Calif., retired in 1999 as a Boeing Co. facilities executive and now enjoys golfing.

John L. Clendenin (WCAS55) of West Palm Beach, Fla., former chairman and CEO of BellSouth Corp., is on the board of Salomon Smith Barney.

Owen U. Frisby (S55, L57) of Rockville, Md., is a public affairs consultant. From 1968 to 1988, he was a vice president of Chase Manhattan Bank's Washington office.

Sue Bogart (WCAS56) of East Hampton, N.Y., retired in 1990 after 33 years of teaching. She divides her time between East Hampton and Dunedin, Fla.

Paul Paige (GMu59) of Phoenix retired in 1999 as a professor of music at Grand Canyon University after a 27-year career. He is a director of church music and serves as a mediator for Maricopa County's Justice Courts. His four grandchildren live close by.

Sidney G. Saltz (WCAS59) of Evanston is a partner in the Chicago law firm of Barnes & Thornburg, specializing in real estate.

Daniel H. Green (D60) of Beloit, Wis., spoke in 1997 on banning smokeless tobacco/snuff in baseball at the 11th Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture.

Sarann Frieman Rice (WCAS60) of Dayton, Ohio, is a financial adviser in Paine Webber's Dayton office.

David Horowitz (GJ61) of Los Angeles received the 1999 Freedom Communicator's Award from Sertoma, a service club, for his work as a consumer advocate.

Tom M. Johnson (M61) of Williamston, Mich., received the Laureate Award from the American College of Physicians for long-term commitment to excellence in medical care, education, research and service.

John M. Dixon (J62) of Winnetka, Ill., is on the board of directors at AMSTED Industries, a Chicago manufacturer of products for the rail, construction and building markets.

Robert L. Holding (J62) of Spring Green, Wis., retired in 1999 as president of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers after 33 years. He and his wife, Marcie, enjoy golf, hiking, canoeing and reading.

Lawrence A. Kennedy (GMcC62, 64) of Worthington, Ohio, was elected a fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Dallas Niermeyer (Mu62) of Arlington Heights, Ill., retired in 1999 after 37 years in music education, during which he directed the high school bands in Highland Park, Ill., and in Arlington Heights. He will travel and continue to be conductor of the Prairie Brass Band.

Lawrence K.W. Tseu (D62) of Honolulu is president of the board of directors of the Jackie [Chan] Foundation, which dispenses grants to aspiring Asian actors.

Kay Millar (J63) of Indianapolis is senior vice president of Avatar Communications Group, a public relations, marketing and advertising firm.

Al Schlachtmeyer (S63, G65) of Alexandria, Va., retired in 1999 from Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire, Ill., as consultant/owner. He now works for the U.S. Library of Congress and has started a part-time consulting practice.

Peter C. Wayner Jr. (GMcC63) of Latham, N.Y., a professor of chemical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., was named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He also received the 1998 Donald Q. Kern Award for expertise in heat transfer, or energy conversion.

William C. Whitbeck (J63) of Lansing, Mich., was appointed chief judge pro tem of the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Larry A. Christiansen (GMu64) of San Diego made a presentation at the 1997 Western Region Conference of the Society of Composers, and his song-cycle was performed at the 1999 conference.

Arthur B. Harris (L65) of Fox Point, Wis., is included in The Best Lawyers in America (1999-2000). He is an attorney with the law firm of Quarles & Brady in Milwaukee.

Daniel M. Lambert (GSESP65) of Baldwin City, Kan., president of Baker University in Baldwin City, was named one of the Kansas City area's outstanding and influential leaders by Ingram's magazine.

William M. Wycoff (L66) of Pittsburgh, a member of the executive committee of law firm Thorp, Reed & Armstrong, was inducted as a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Paul L. Child (D67) of Ogden, Utah, is director of Region 14 of the Academy of General Dentistry, which includes seven Western states.

Peter Krauser (WCAS69) of Adelphi, Md., was re-elected chair of the Maryland Democratic Party and was honored by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington, D.C., for his leadership in public affairs.

Robert H. Miller (KGSM69) of Arlington Heights, Ill., is director of public works for the village of Schaumburg. Last year, as national president of the American Public Works Association, he gave the keynote address at the International Congress on Local Government Engineering and Public Works in Sydney, Australia.

William J. Nissen (WCAS, Nav69) of Lake Bluff, Ill., a partner with Sidley & Austin, was appointed to a three-year term on the board of directors at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Joy Ratliff (GMu69) of Huntington, W.Va., returned to the United States in 1988 after a 15-year operatic career in Germany. She is on the faculty at Marshall University in Huntington and received a doctorate of music arts in 1997 from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Malcolm Kram (WCAS70) of Philadelphia sold his New York City veterinary practice, was awarded an American Association for the Advancement of Science Congressional Science Fellowship and joined pharmaceutical maker Pfizer in New York. He is associate director of worldwide drug safety.

Randy L. Parcel (L70) of Westminster, Colo., has joined Perkins Coie law firm in its Denver office.

Louis Silverstein (GSESP70) of Evanston is a professor of liberal education at Columbia College in Chicago. Previously, he was dean of the college and chair of the Department of Life Arts and Liberal Education.

Howard E. Jackson (G71) of Cincinnati is vice president and university dean for research and advanced studies at the University of Cincinnati.

Bruce Koppenhoefer (McC72) of Montevallo, Ala., owns a marketing consulting firm. The Shelby County (Ala.) Chamber of Commerce named him 1999 Business Person of the Year for companies with no more than two employees.

Mark D. Duncan (WCAS83) of Annapolis, Md., is chief of surgical oncology at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. He has a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study esophageal and gastric cancer.
