Jennifer King Finley (WCAS80) of Manchester, Mo., is a partner at the St. Louis law firm of Fox, Gallagher and Finley LLP.

Jeffrey A. Golman (L80) of Highland Park, Ill., joined Mesirow Financial in Chicago in February as vice chair and executive managing director. He heads the investment banking division.

Larry Mark (J80) of New York City is director of employee and shareholder communications at Merrill Lynch in New York.

Rebecca Sherrick (G80) of Aurora, Ill., is president of Aurora University and a historian. She was one of five Illinois Wesleyan University alumni to receive honorary degrees in February.

Tamar Manjikian Mahshigian (GJ81) of Los Angeles is a founder and editor of cDecor.com, an international Web site containing an online magazine and directory of numerous antique dealers, showrooms and other design sources. She previously was an editor for Architectural Digest.

Martha K. Pomerantz (WCAS81, KGSM86) of Chanhassen, Minn., is an investment principal with Lowry, Hill, a wealth management firm in Minneapolis. She chairs the investment committee, authors Lowry, Hill's quarterly economic newsletter and serves as media spokesperson for the firm.

D. Cameron Findlay (WCAS82) of Washington, D.C., is deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor. He is chair of the WCAS board of visitors and was on the Northwestern Board of Trustees, the NAA board and the NU Club of Chicago's board of directors.

John Gerrity (KGSM82) of Palo Alto, Calif., is vice president of marketing for Webprint in San Bruno, Calif.

Andrea Gullickson (GMu82) of Oshkosh, Wis., an associate professor of music at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh and former principal oboist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, performed in the People's Republic of China in June 1999. She and others were featured on a CD called Classical Wizard, released in July 2000 by chamber music group Wizards! A Double Reed Consort.

Susan E. Harris (WCAS82) of Chicago was named director of the Northwestern University Press in the spring. She had been acting director since June 2000 and editor in chief since 1995.

Nickolas S. Jovanovic (McC82) of Little Rock is an associate professor and a founding faculty member of a new Department of Systems Engineering at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In May 2000 he received the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching in the Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering.

Steven G. Rowles (WCAS82) of San Diego, a mergers and acquisitions and securities specialist, is a partner in the San Diego office of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP.

Louise Shackelton (Mu82) of Birmingham, England, is a violinist. She joined the London Symphony Orchestra's violin section in May 2000.

Andrew J. Strubhar (PT82) of Peoria, Ill., a faculty member at Bradley University in Peoria, received a doctorate in educational administration from Illinois State University last December.

Matt Carter (S83) of Atlanta is chief marketing officer for Security First Network Bank, one of the world's first Internet banks. He previously worked at Bristol-Myers, Coca-Cola Co. and BellSouth in a variety of marketing positions.

Annetta Hewko (McC83, KGSM88) of Geneva, Switzerland, is Frito-Lay Europe's commercial director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. For almost eight years she worked for PepsiCo in Central and Eastern Europe, developing businesses in various markets. She learned Russian, Slovak and Hungarian, got married and acquired a dog.

Paul Kaplan (G83, 86) of Evanston was appointed director of research at Morningstar Inc. He also received the Graham and Dodd Award of Excellence for a feature article published in the January/February 2000 issue of the Financial Analyst Journal.

Karen Page (WCAS83) of New York City and her husband, Andrew Dornenburg, wrote a series of award-winning books on America's restaurant culture. Dining Out (Wiley, John & Sons, 1998) was a finalist for the James Beard and Julia Child Book Awards and named one of the best books on gastronomy at the Salon International du Livre Gourmand in Périguex, France. She is a member of Northwestern's Council of One Hundred.

Nora Palmieri (G83) of Trophy Club, Texas, is an associate professor at the College of the Humanities and Sciences, a Great Books distance learning college in Tempe, Ariz.

Neil Foote (GJ84) of Plano, Texas, is chief operating officer of BlackAmericaWeb.com. He received the Catalyst Award in Washington, D.C., in April for advancing the cause of diversity in the media.

Michael Hofstetter (G84, 91) of Marshall, Minn., professor of history at Southwest State University in Marshall, wrote his first book, The Romantic Idea of a University: England & Germany 1770–1850 (McMillan, 2001).

Janine L. Schenone (WCAS84) of Mountain View, Calif., left her position as director of product management at a dot-com company to write a novel. She also writes newsletters and marketing materials for high-tech companies.

Mary Jo Boldingh (G85) of Arlington Heights, Ill., graduated with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1991. In January she was named a partner in the Chicago office of the law firm of Jenkens & Gilchrist, where she specializes in intellectual property law. She and her husband, Edwin, have two children, Emily and Kevin.

Christopher Causey (KGSM85) of Libertyville, Ill., was named vice president of sales for Consolidated Commerce in Chicago.

Randy Gross (WCAS85) of Washington, D.C., is an international community development and real estate consultant. Much of his work focuses on community revitalization in South Africa.

Whitney Mason (J85, GJ86) of Charlottesville, Va., is leading a community-level program to improve animal welfare in Charlottesville. She served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 10 years before joining the reserves.

Thomas J. Terez (J85) of Columbus, Ohio, a speaker, consultant and researcher, wrote 22 Keys to Creating a Meaningful Workplace (Adams Media, 2000).

Elliott D. Blatt (WCAS86) of New York City, board chair of Multimedia Software, has taken the 9-year-old firm global, opening offices in London, Rome, Milan, Athens, Brussels and the United States. He is merging his own agency, Blatt Music Media, which includes an inventory of over 50,000 works, with Multimedia.

Colleen Connors Butler (KGSM86) of Chicago was named of counsel for the intellectual property law firm of Brinks, Hofer, Gilson & Lione in Chicago. Her practice is in the areas of unfair competition and trademark law.

Jacqueline Byers (WCAS86) of Edina, Minn., is working as a project manager in credit systems development for Target Corp. in Minneapolis.

John Falk (McC86) of Chicago was promoted to managing director for information technology at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Dawn Westlake (S86) of Los Angeles wrote, produced and starred in an 11-minute digital short, Mini Driver Project, filmed in Northern Portugal last fall. It won second place in the women's category at ZoieFest 2001, an international festival sponsored by iFilm and filmfestivals.com.

Brad Charles (McC87) of San Antonio is the satellite warehouse manager for the Texoma region of Pepsi Bottling Group. He and his wife, Angela DiSimone (S88), are the parents of Melissa and Zachary.

Susan DeRouchey (GJ87) of Stevens Point, Wis., is the director of marketing services for the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point Extension. She serves on the university relations advisory group, is a member of the extension's administration leadership team and assists the Web team, customer service team and program council. She also volunteers for the Stevens Point Meals on Wheels program.

Julie Johnsson (GJ87) of Chicago is a senior reporter at Crain's Chicago Business. She also writes the Tech Watch column in Crain's.

Jeffrey M. Levinson (SCS87) of Cleveland is an attorney with Hahn, Loeser & Parks in Cleveland. He joined the law firm in 1999 and was named of counsel in the spring.

John G. Lewis (McC87, KGSM88) of Plymouth, Minn., is chief financial officer of XATA Corp., a software company in Burnsville, Minn.

Paula Michaels (WCAS87) of Chapel Hill, N.C., received a grant for 2000 and 2001 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to complete a book on the history of medicine in Central Asia. She is an assistant professor of Russian history at the University of Iowa currently on a leave of absence.

Timothy Patronik (McC87) of Chicago is senior vice president at Northbrook, Ill.–based Comtech Group USA. He and his wife, Mary Scott Patronik (McC88, KGSM97), have two sons.

Li Poa (WCAS87, M89) of Manhattan Beach, Calif., is a cardiothoracic surgeon and chair of the Department of Surgery at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospitals with a faculty appointment at the University of California, Los Angeles. His wife, Hyunah Lee (WCAS87, M89), is an associate professor of medicine at UCLA.

David Schmidt (J87) of Chicago joined the Chicago law office of O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen as partner and co-chair of the corporate practice group.

Jim Apfel (GMcC88) of Palo Alto, Calif., is senior vice president of corporate development for Aspects Technology, a semi-conductor company based in Mountain View, Calif.

James P. Bozikis (J88) of Glenview, Ill., is senior marketing manager for RMS Disease Management Inc., a McGaw Park, Ill.–based affiliate of Baxter Healthcare Corp. He had been a senior associate for marketing at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Joy Gregory (S88) of Los Angeles writes for the television show Felicity and is working on a play. She received a master's degree in fine arts in critical studies from the California Institute of the Arts. She and other Northwestern alumni are also co-founders and members of Chicago's Lookingglass Theater Company.

David Hirschler (KGSM88) of Teaneck, N.J., is vice president of global marketing for Register.com, a provider of domain name registration services in New York City.

Liane LeMaster (S88) of Atlanta was a finalist for the Fiction Prize 2000 for "Sun Going Down," a short story published in the winter 2001 issue of the Mississippi Review. She and her husband, Bob, are the parents of Sarah and Claire.

Paul A. Minorini (WCAS88) of Deerfield, Ill., is CEO of an international nonprofit organization, Boys Hope Girls Hope, which serves at-risk youths. He oversees the organization's 37-home network and is expanding the program to include more children in the United States. He organized a mentoring program for Boys Hope students at Northwestern and co-directed the Boys Hope summer camp with the founder, the Rev. Paul Sheridan.

Jonathan E. Barrish (WCAS89) of Chicago, a partner in the law firm of Garofalo, Schrieber & Hart Chtd. in Chicago, handles workers' compensation cases in Illinois.

Robert Bergquist (L89) of Seattle is president and CEO of DealPlanner, a Seattle-based financial services software company.

Brian Blanchard (L89) of Madison, Wis., was elected district attorney for Dane County.

Alan S. Dalinka (S89, L93) of Chicago is a partner at the law firm of Piper, Marbury, Rudnick and Wolfe in Chicago.

Charles Drury (S89) of Beloit, Wis., formerly assistant professor of theater at Beloit College, was promoted to associate professor with tenure starting this fall.

Marcia Franklin (GJ89) of Boise, Idaho, a producer and host for Idaho Public Television, received a 2000 George Foster Peabody Award for producing and writing the documentary Hearts and Minds: Teens and Mental Illness. It details the lives of four mentally disturbed teens.

Deborah Garvey (WCAS89) of Santa Clara, Calif., is a lecturer in economics at Santa Clara University. In addition to her teaching, she is researching immigrant incorporation and school finance policy.

Francine Pope Huff (J89) of Maplewood, N.J., is the spot news editor at the Wall Street Journal in New York City. Previously she served as deputy spot news editor.

Christopher Ryan (KGSM89) of Chicago is the senior manager in the human capital practice of Arthur Andersen in Chicago.

Elizabeth Keest Sedrel (J89) of Des Moines is an assistant news editor at the Des Moines Register.

Robert Simmons (KGSM89) of Salt Lake City is CFO for Consonus Inc. in Salt Lake City. Consonus develops and manages comprehensive eBusiness systems.
