Brief Job Summary

The Graduate Housing Assistant staff (GHAs) work with an incredibly diverse group of residents that have come from all over the world to study a variety of disciplines at Northwestern University. Many of the residents in the graduate housing residence halls are the partners, spouses or children of students. GHAs work to build a strong and unique sense of community for graduate students who choose to live in the McManus, Engelhart & Garrett Place apartments. GHAs serve a role models and resources within the community and strive to ensure the buildings remain secure and in working order for residents.

The role of the GHA is to serve students by:

  • Planning and implementing educational and social programming
  • Serve as a campus resource by responding to inquiries
  • Ensuring that good customer service is extended during the evenings and on weekends
  • Promoting safety and responsibility by monitoring the facilities
  • Assisting students during emergency or crises
