Residence Hall Winter Break Closing
All residence halls close for winter break at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011. All students must vacate the residence halls by this time.
Unless you are not returning for Winter 2012 Quarter, you do not need to remove all of your belongings from the room or turn in your key. If you are not returning, please schedule a checkout appointment in advance with your Community Assistant.
Prior to leaving, residents must complete the checklist posted on each room/suite door. We ask that you sign and date the checklist as you leave so that the staff knows when the room has been vacated. Residents are encourage to talk to all roommates to ensure that the checklist items are completed as the last person leaves for break. Checklist items include:
□ Empty and defrost your refrigerator (start a few days before leaving)
□ Take out all garbage and perishable items, including food
□ Remove all personal belongings in common areas.
□ Close and lock your window(s) and close the curtains/blinds
□ Unplug everything, turn off all lights, and set heat to low (not off)
□ Take all important and valuable items with you (wallet, medication, passport, tickets, etc.)
□ Arrange a time in advance with your CA if you need to get into the trunk room.
□ Lock your door and sign the form as you leave
CAs will perform safety inspections in each room after residents leave. Please note that the City of Evanston will also be performing safety inspections over the break period. All campus residents recieved an email with furhter information about this process.
Please remember to bring all of your important items with you, including your ID/passport, medications, and valuables.
The residence halls reopen at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012. Students will not be permitted to enter the residence halls before this time.
