Fall 2017 Undergraduate Housing Selection
HOUSING RE-CONTRACTING HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2017, 5:00 PM.
Thank you for choosing to live in on-campus housing at Northwestern University for the 2017-2018 academic year. At Northwestern we are proud to provide a variety of living options and experiences. Residential Services is in the midst of a 10-year Housing campaign to add more housing facilities as well as renovate many others. For more information visit our Master Plan website. Please review the information below and then select the New Student (incoming freshman or transfer) or Returning Student (currently lives on campus) links to get started.
- Fall 2017 brings the introduction of the 2-year live-on requirement for all incoming first-year students. More information about the live-on requirement and exceptions policy will be available soon.
- Northwestern’s newest residence hall, 560 Lincoln, will open its doors. This 422-bed facility will offer suite-style living to all classes of undergraduate residents. More information about 560 Lincoln can be found here.
- Elder Hall and 1838 Chicago will no longer be first-year only residence halls. Any returning student may sign up for Elder or 1838 Chicago.
- Each incoming first-year student will be placed on the Open Access meal plan. This is the only meal plan option for first-year students. The Open Access meal plan will allow each resident to swipe into any dining hall as many times a day as they like. Returning students may choose between several meal plans, including the new Open Access plan.
Residential Services offers several residential experiences including residence halls, residential communities, and residential colleges. Each community provides a unique opportunity for engagement and growth. Please select the link below to discover the various choices for on-campus living.

|April 28, 2017||Returning (current) resident room assignments finalized and sent via email.|
|August 2017||First year and transfer room assignments complete and sent via email|
You may request to cancel your contract at any time. Depending upon when you request to cancel your contract, you may be held to part or all of the contracted rates. Request for contract cancellation does not guarantee the request will be granted. The cancellation schedule is below:

|Saturday, March 18, 2017 – on or before Friday, June 2, 2017||Returning Students: 25% of Fall Quarter room charges
Entering Students (freshmen or transfer): forfeit $200.00 prepayment
|Saturday, June 3, 2017 – on or before Friday, July 14, 2017||All Students: 50% of Fall Quarter room charges
|Saturday, July 15, 2017 – on or before Friday, August 4, 2017||All Students: 75% of Fall Quarter room charges|
|Saturday, August 5, 2017 – Monday, September 11, 2017||All Students: 100% of Fall Quarter room charges|
|Tuesday, September 12, 2017 – Spring 2018 commencement||All Students: 100% of room charges for Term of Agreement (full academic year)|
